Wednesday Mail from Mr Fulton

Welcome to another Wednesday mail (website edition!)

The weeks are flying by in AMPS.  As I mentioned in the previous mail, we are at the height of Nativity and Christmas Carol Service preparation in school.  A very special time, albeit a very busy time too!  Please see the information below for more details regarding the Carol Services and Nativities.

Open Days

We are delighted to say that we are almost booked up for our ticketed Open Day tours in AMPS (1st, 5th, 8th Dec).  We have decided to do LIVE open school tours during the day to show prospective parents how special our school is.  Our new families will take a tour with two members of staff and some fabulous school council representatives.  If you know of any family who have not been able to gain a ticket for a tour, please tell them to contact the school office and we can arrange a tour at a future date and I will happily accomodate.

Teaching Union Strike-29th November

As already communicated, the 5 main Teaching Unions have called their members for a half day of industrial action on Wednesday 29th November 2023.  Please see attached emailed letter for more information.

PHA Advice regarding illness

Alongside the beauty of Christmas, we are also being bombarded with the winter bugs in AMPS.  The attached PHA Guidance was sent on 12/9/23 but I have attached again as a reminder.  I would ask you refer to the Guidance when your child has any of the symptoms of the illnesses explained.   Please communicate any illnesses with school when you can.

Tree in The Square

Our lovely P4/5 Art Club have been busy decorating the AMPS Tree in The Square.  Make sure you get along to see all the lovely Christmas Tress designed by local schools. Thank you to our very own Mrs Beattie for all her organisation.

2-3 Club

Last week we contact P1-P3 parents who do not have siblings but may still use 2-3 club occasionally or potentially regularly.  Thank you to everyone who contacted Mrs Morrison about this.  We are still exploring options of how to move forward in the new school term and your information about potential use has been very beneficial to how we can do so.  There is no change in 2-3 Club currently.

Andrews Hall

You are aware of our beautiful Andrews Hall.  Andrews Hall was a gift to the people of Comber and we would love to use the upstairs hall during the school term for outside agencies.  This might be for parent groups, mum and tots, exercise classes etc.  If you are aware of any group (or if you are involved in any) who may like to hire the hall during school opening hours, please send an email to cfulton489@c2kni.net

We are a school who believes in being a central part of our community and our wonderful Andrews Hall is a beautiful building that we can offer to our local community groups.

Santa Daily Mile

Not only is 1st December our first Open Day but it is SANTA DAILY MILE DAY!  School Council would like to invite all children to wear a Christmas Jumper, Christmas Hat etc for our AMPS Santa Daily Mile on 1st December 2023.

AMPS HOUSE COMPETITION ALERT!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

… and a fabulous time to get creative!

In the run up to Christmas we would love to see the children’s artistic talents shine, as they design and make a brilliant bauble or seasonal decoration that we would proudly display on our AMPS Christmas trees.

The competition is open to ALL P1-7 pupils who wish to enter.

Each child who enters will:

  • have their decoration displayed on one of our AMPS Christmas Trees or displays
  • earn 10 points for their House

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd places awarded in each year group also.  These children will earn 100, 70 and 50 points respectively for their Houses.

All baubles/decorations should be in school no later than Thursday, 30th November.

So come on…what are you waiting for? Lets get creative and spread some Christmas Cheer! 🎄
