A Busy Half Term in Primary 1!

25th Mar 2026
We have been incredibly busy in Primary 1 this half term!

At the beginning of the half term, we had lots of fun trying out some Winter Olympics themed activities including the bobsleigh and skeleton!

Then came pancake day - yum! We had a demonstration in which some lucky helpers had the chance to assist Miss Dawson to make the batter. Then we had to wait patiently for them all to be cooked so we could choose our toppings and have a taste! They were delicious!

Our topic this half term has been 'Spring and New Life'. We have been learning about the signs of spring as well as learning all about the new life that emerges in spring time, including different flowers that bloom and animals that are born at this time of year. We had the chance to plant a sunflower and make a bird feeder. We have enjoyed lots of spring and farming activities during Play Based Learning.

We were particularly excited to visit the school pond to see if any frogspawn had been laid in the water. Luckily, we spotted some! We will be keeping a close eye on the progress of the frogspawn, hoping to see them turn into tadpoles!

It was World Book Day on 5th March. We got to dress up as our favourite book characters and take part in the Big Booky Cat Walk. We helped to write our school collaborative story all about Chompy the sabre tooth tiger! The P7s read us some books that they had written and illustrated themselves - they were fantastic!

We are finally starting to see some brighter weather and the boys and girls are delighted to get outside and use our outdoor spaces a bit more. We love to ride the bikes, dig in the mud and make a splash in the water tray. Let's hope the better weather is here to stay!

There is one more term left of P1, and another busy one ahead! We look forward to seeing what adventures we get up to in the summer term!
